I am primarily interested in growing organic vegetables (and some fruit) to feed my two-person household during the 4-5 months
the garden actually produces. If I ever get enough of a surplus, I would like to donate it to the food bank, but so far it
hasn't happened yet. My growing area also includes a small herb garden with a fairly good selection of culinary herbs, most
perennial.
By "organic", I mean not using chemicals, whether it be chemical fertilizer or pesticides or even enriched topsoil/potting
soil. I use whatever seeds or plants I can get my hands on, and don't worry about if they're of organic origin. I am pretty
much self-taught, through books and workshops, and use whatever techniques seem like they might work. My intent is to reduce
the amount of chemicals entering the environment and my body.
